Gunning for trouble in ‘The Belkin Experiment’…

The Belkin Experiment

Bad day at the office? That’s nothing compared to the workers who find themselves trapped in a life-or-death struggle in and Greg McLean’s ‘The Belkin Experiment‘…

James Gunn has been quite a busy man, prepping the much-anticipated sequel to smash-hit Guardians of the Galaxy, but he’s apparently found time in his busy schedule to write and produce a very different type of film which was written over a span of just two weeks and then shot by Australian director Greg McLean (Wolf Creek).

The Belkin Experiment sees an isolated building full of office workers trapped inside their headquarters and told that they will only be able to leave if they survive – and survival means killing your co-workers rather than them doing the same to you. Suddenly a group of pen-pushers have to decide their priorities as the mysterious voice over the building’s speaker-system makes it very clear that this isn’t a joke and that a lot of time and resources have gone into the planning.

In front of the camera, there’s a raft of familiar names in the mix: John Gallagher Jr (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Newsroom), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, of the Galaxy), John C. McGinley (Scrubs), Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) , David Dastmalchian (Blade Runner 2049), Mikaela Hoover (Guardians of the Galaxy), Brent Sexton (The Killing, Dexter), Owain Yeoman (The Mentalist), Melonie Diaz (Ro, Girls) and Josh Brener (Silicon Valley).

The below (red-band – for mature audiences only) gives us a taste of what to expect and what feels like a cross between The Cabin in the Woods, a Battle Royale, the somewhat under-rated Operation: Endgame, some dark humour, genuine tension, OTT situations and a series of genre-subverting twists.

The film will hit cinemas screens in March 2017, a month already proving itself to be one of the busiest blasts of anticipated films in several years….
