Mark Dacascos will be heading back to the Philippines early next year, teaming up with cult director Pedring Lopez for ‘Breach‘…
Crying Freeman and Drive hero Mark Dacascos will be heading to the Philippines in early 2017 for the action thriller Breach, to be helmed by cult director Pedring Lopez (whose most recent project was the action horror thriller Nilalang starring Cesar Montano and former Japanese AV superstar Maria Ozawa). That film is currently winning plenty of acclaim and attention on the festival circuit, and we’d love to see it get a proper International release.
2017’s Breach will see Dacascos joining forces with Lopez, on a project that reunites him with Nilalang action director Sonny Sison. His credits include the likes of Broken Path with Alpha Stunts, Hawaii 5’0 , Olympus has Fallen and Dacascos’ Showdown in Manilla). He will also be serving as co-producer on the project.
According to Lopez: “We’re now gearing up, and are already very thrilled about Breach, since it’s my first international film. This is also my second film with veteran stunt director, Sonny Sison and Pao Orendain, my DP – we’re still busy casting for Chinese actors but 2017 will be a big, busy year for us, for sure!”
The Philippines has provided the backdrop for plenty of classic action and martial arts movie maing over the years, American Ninja, Enter the Ninja, Bloodfist, Future Hunters, Raw Force as well as parts of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Pound of Flesh being shot there in addition to such classic big budget projects as Apocalypse Now and Platoon. Dacascos has shot several projects there previously over the years including the sci-fi thriller DNA and a couple of Roger Corman productions including Hunt for Eagle One and Operation Rogue.
Dacascos is currently shooting a new project in France, and he has the Moscow-lensed Maximum Impact with Alexander Nevsky and Ultimate Justice with Matthias Hues, Mike Moeller and Brandon Rhea set for imminent release. Sison most recently served as action choreographer for several episodes of the top-rated Philippine fantasy show Encantadia which features True Legend and Game of Thrones’ villain Conan Stevens.
