Former stuntman turned actor Max Zhang (The Grandmaster) continues to rise up the ranks of martial arts movie stardom with his latest projects…including ‘Brink‘ and ‘The Man with the Dragon Tattoo‘…
After scene-stealing roles in SPL 2: A Time of Consequence and Ip Man 3 Zhang has just wrapped The Brink, a thriller starring alongside Shawn Yue (Shamo), Gordon Lam (Travisa), Janice Man (Helios), Wu Yue (From Vegas to Macau 2) and Japanese martial arts movie legend David Kurata (Kurata Yasauki from Fist of Legend), directed by Jonathan Li.
The Brink focuses on a group of fishermen who get involved with gold smuggling and the police who give chase. The film was shot during the summer of 2016, and features a number of underwater action sequences which sees the main cast performing many of their own stunts in and out of the water. The action sequences are staged by former Jackie Chan Stunt Team leader Nicky Li (Li Chung-chi).
No sooner had Zhang completed shooting on The Brink, he moved onto his current project, which is directed by Made In Hong Kong‘s Fruit Chan.
It’s The Man with the Dragon Tattoo, also starring Annie Liu and UFC legend Anderson Silvamaking his Hong Kong action movie debut. Zhang is also scheduled to star in an Ip Man spin off that would feature his character Cheung Tin-chi from Ip Man 3, getting to headline a movie of his own. He’s also being set to play one of the leads in SPL 3: A Time of War.
