‘The Mummy‘ franchise gets a total resurrection with Universal’s high-budget, Tom Cruise-led tale of modern mystery and supernatural menace. Here’s a taster of what to expect…
Universal is slowly cleaning up and dusting off its monsters and has just released a teaser for next year’s The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise. Not to be confused with the more zany period-setting Brendan Fraser outings, this is a darker-edged story set in modern times with Cruise taking on the supernatural power of reawakened power… one that’s decidedly more voluptuous than Vosloo.
It’s an all-star cast as well – as pictured in their Twitter pix above, taken during filming in Namibia. Cruise is joined by the likes of Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator, of course), Annabelle Wallis (upcoming King Arthur, television’s Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World) andCourtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson).
The teaser is just that, not even amounting to thirty seconds of footage, but it does give a glimpse into the tone and style that Universal are looking for with the release. It hits cinemas on 9th June 2017.
