The Walking Dead television series has been a real breakthrough for both the comic's original co-creator Robert Kirkman and one of its stars Norman Reedus. Before the AMC show became a massive global hit, Kirkman was best known for his comic titles and Reedus had appeared in cult films such as Boondock Saints and Pandorum. His role as Daryl Dixon has become a key character on the series and while no character is 'safe', the series would probably be wiser gnawing off its own leg than sacrificing the crossbow-weilding apocalyptic survivor.
However, as industry-site The Hollywood Reporter reveals, both men will be co-operating on another project during the show's next hiatus.
'Air' is a low-budget science-fiction thriller which sees Kirkman producing and Reedus playing one of two men who manage a cryogenic facility on a post-nuclear war Earth. The only other man on the base - part from the frozen inhabitants - is another custodial worker played by the Oscar-nominated Djimon Hounsou (soon to be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy and the delayed Fast & Furious 7). It's the last viable place for human life to begin again, but in the claustraphobic and isolated environment, tensions begin to mount...
The project has been co-written by Chris Pasetto and Christian Cantamessa (the latter probably best known as the lead-designer on hit video games Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) who will also direct.
