The Daleks were the creatures that went around the universe destroying inferior life and shouting out their famous 'Exterminate!' catch-all catchphrase, but it appears that recently-departed Doctor Who Matt Smith may be following suit to some degree. That's not to say he's turned evil, simply that after much speculation in the last twenty-four hours he has formally been confirmed as having a 'significant' part in the upcoming Terminator reboot.
Though there are currently few details on what role within the proposed trilogy Smith will be playing, the annoucement from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions appears to indicate that this will be a 'new' role within the reimagining of the story. Smith joins a cast that already includes the likes of the returning Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee.
The new film, part of a propsoed trilogy that retells the story (with apparently some key differences) is being directed by Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The production is now moving forward at a pace with the release date of July 1st 2015 already allocated.
Karen Gillan, who played Amy Pond alongside Smith in the popular BBC series has already got her big-screen blockbuster credentials with her appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy which will be released THIS summer.
