‘Sons of Anarchy‘ was a down-and-dirty drama about the trials and tribulations of a biker community… now the long-rumoured spin-off is starting to take shape with a pilot ordered for 2017…
As has been rumoured for quite a while now, a sequel series, of sorts, to hit show Sons of Anarchy will be hitting screens in 2017. Industry site Deadline reports that Mayans MC will shoot a pilot for FX in March with the story featuring the Mayans motorcycle club – seen occasionally in the show as both friends and enemies of the main characters there – and some of the personal dramas affecting its members. The primary focus will be on a ‘prospect’ member of the club and the conflict he encounters as he tries to gain and keep respect and trust from those in his life – wanting vengeance against the local drug cartel but also wanting to stay loyal to he women in his life.
The Mayans MC pilot will be written and directed by original series creator Kurt Sutter from a script he wrote with Elgin James. Both men would then serve as executive producers on the series. At this point a full series is not guaranteed, but as Sons of Anarchy was such a cult hit for FX, it seems likely that a fuller run will be ordered after the pilot is seen and approved.
